Boy Hampers                                         Girl Hampers

A baby's 1st Birthday is the first of many milstones in their life, and the gift given to celebrate this momentus occassion could be a bright and coloruful toy they will like now, toys they will grow into during the next developmental stage, or an heirloom style gift for their future!

To make your job easier, we have put together a delightful selection of 1st Birthday Hampers to choose from, or you might prefer to create your own hamper by choosing any number of items from our selection of 1st Birthday Gifts which will be presented in a beautiful gift box from you.

The development of a toddler between 1 and 2 years of age is enormous!  After a baby turns 1, their eye-hand co-ordination and depth perception improves, they start walking, talking and understanding more than they are given credit for!     With that in mind, we have put together some elements to consdier when chosing a 1st Birthday Gift.

Development of Eye Sight and Co-ordination - During 1 to 2 years old, a baby's eye-hand coodination and depth perception should become well developed and he or she will begin to understand abstract terms.  1st Birthday gift ideas to  improve eye sight and co-ordination development at this stage are:

  • Building blocks
  • Simple puzzles
  • Balls
  • Toys that they can push or pull around

Reading - It's never too early to start reading.  Children of this age can appreciate a simple story, but also like looking at the pictures. Stick with board books that can better withstand a 1-year-olds not-so-gentle touch. Touch & Feel Books are great for developing reaching skills as well as experiencing new textures.

Safety  - Avoid toys with parts that are small enough to swallow or with removable parts that are sharp or could be swallowed and check paint is non-toxic. Everything should be unbreakable and safe for them to put in their mouths.

1st Birthday Party Ideas

  • Remember that your baby doesn't really have any expectations whatsoever. This party is for you and your family and friends who are coming to "ooh" and "aah" over your wonderful one-year-old!
  • Plan a fairly short party (from an hour to an hour and a half), and its best to plan it after your baby's naptime so that they will be rested and in good spirits for the special day. You don't need to worry too much about entertaining the adults, just make sure they have all been introduced to one another and they will chat and mingle on their own. You can have a few parent-child games organized to break the ice and add some flavor to the party besides the food and chitchat.
  • If possible, it's recommended to hold 1st birthday parties at your own home (or in an environment your baby is comfortable and familiar with).
  • It's also important you choose a theme that you are excited about.
  • A theme doesn't have to be elaborate at such a small age. A simple concept such as a shape or color, or a favorite Disney character or storybook can be the main point to focus on for your decorations and activities.
  • Baby party decorations in bright primary colors are enough to stimulate a little ones mind.  Take advantage of the ease in this one, because here on out they get a bit more involved.
  • A few big blown up beach balls, plastic containers with plastic spoons so they can make music, tunnels that can be made out of cardboard boxes decorated with wrapping paper are next to irresistible for a one year old not to crawl through.
  • Poster board and washable finger paints are also a great activity.
  • Cereal they can dump back and forth between plastic containers.
